As one of the sponsors of the 2023 Natwest International Island Games, 14 Ravenscroft staff have added their support by volunteering for various roles.
More than 1,200 volunteers have signed up for the event, which will see athletes from 24 islands come together to compete in 14 different sports from 8th to 14th July.
‘Ravenscroft has always been committed to supporting the communities within which we operate and it’s wonderful to see so many of our staff upholding these values and giving up their time to support the Games in various capacities,’ said group CEO Jon Ravenscroft.
‘Hosting an event like this takes an enormous collective effort and we’re delighted to play a part, not only as a sponsor but also through volunteering. In true Guernsey spirit, we’re already seeing how islanders are coming together with the goal of delivering something truly special for this historic event.’
Ravenscroft staff will fill a variety of volunteer roles across the different sports and many will also be involved in the opening ceremony on 8th July.
Alex Knowelden, who works within Ravenscroft’s corporate finance team, accepted the head of marshalling position following his experience as team leader at the 2012 Olympic Games, while business manager Andrew Courtney will be the team attaché for Bermuda. Ravenscroft staff have also been allocated to various sports such as tennis, football, and athletics.
Ravenscroft also has one confirmed member of staff who will be representing Guernsey. Katie Cochrane, who is the group’s data protection officer, has been selected for the island’s basketball team.
In addition to the company’s corporate sponsorship, Ravenscroft has also donated office space for use as a volunteer co-ordination centre.
